InTouch Credit Union Springs Into April's Financial Literacy Month

ITCU Raises Funds Through Employee Jeans Days and Features Contests in Branches for Kids

PLANO, Texas - March 29, 2013 - PRLog -- In honor of Financial Literacy month, InTouch Credit Union is eager to announce their newest campaign aimed at raising awareness and funds to promote financial literacy.

First, throughout the month of April, branches will be promoting financial literacy amongst their youngest members by displaying a piggy bank stuffed with cash in each of the 18 branches that kids will have the opportunity to win. Depending on their age, children can enter to win the piggy bank either by turning in a five question financial quiz or a completed coloring sheet featuring ITCU Mascot, Chip. Kids will have until the end of April to drop off their entries.

Second, ITCU will offer their employees a month of Friday “Jeans Days” as a fundraiser for the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) and Texas Credit Union Foundation (TCUF). Employees will be allowed to wear jeans to work for a donation of $5 per Friday in April or for $18 they can wear jeans on all four Fridays. If the entire current ITCU employee count of 190 participated in all four Fridays of April, the fundraiser could possibly raise a total of $3420 for NCUF and TCUF. Employees are also encouraged to donate an additional amount to the foundations, if they wish to do so.

NCUF uses the funds it raises as the philanthropic leader of America’s credit union movement to make grants and manage innovative programs that assist the public in gaining financial independence through credit unions. TCUF’s mission is to empower people to improve their financial well being. TCUF works to achieve that mission by creating financial education programs for youths and adults as well as creating other valuable resources for Texas credit unions and their communities.
