He currently serves as Associate General Counsel for Legal Administration and External Relations at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. In this position, Dr. Sutton is an internal advocate for the Legal Department’s diversity initiatives. He also collaborates with external stakeholders to promote diversity within the legal profession and the pipeline for future attorneys. Prior to joining Wal-Mart in 2005, Attorney Sutton practiced law for 35 years in Detroit, Michigan, Houston, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Dallas, Texas. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Bar Institute. He also serves on the American Bar Association’ Dr. Sutton earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Denver, his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan, his Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas, and his Doctorate of Philosophy in Management Science from the University of Texas at Dallas.
