Janesville, WI…
Hufcor Inc., the most installed brand of operable partition in the world, has taken flexible space management in a completely new direction: Up!

Hufcor introduces the patent-pending Hufcor Summit® 640V vertical lift operable wall system that takes acoustic operable panels through a narrow slot and stacks them neatly out of sight above the ceiling.  Other vertical stacking systems fold into the ceiling and are visible within the ceiling stacking trench. The unique, automated lifting device provides optimal space division simply with the push of a button.

Each individual panel is nominally four-inch thick and 30” in height.  The panel faces are steel laminated to appropriate substrate to meet the STC requirement.  Welded steel frames are of a minimum 16 gauge painted steel.

Panels are retracted above the ceiling and stored by activating two key-switch controls.  Each panel is supported by two guide rollers traveling in vertical guide rails.

Summit Partitions come equipped with two safety systems.  When the operable wall is being lowered, the panels stop if the leading (bottom) edge comes into contact with any object between it and the floor.  The operation of the wall may resume once the key switch has been released and the obstruction cleared.

The Summit Vertical Lift Operable Partition has been tested at a laboratory by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) and in accordance with ASTM E90 Test Standards.  Standard panel construction shall have obtained a minimum STC rating of 51.

The 640V saves floor space and is a popular choice for hotel meeting rooms, convention centers, commercial or educational facilities.  A manual override of motor units allows the panels to lower if there has been a power failure.

Roger Anderson, Hufcor’s northern California’s distributor concluded, “San Francisco-based Brereton Architects designed the Summit vertical lift system to separate a meeting room for an international banking client because of the clean ceiling design when the panels are stacked.  And Hathaway Dinwiddie, the project’s contractors, selected Hufcor Summit because of the integration with the pre-programmed systems, ease of installation, overall costs, lead time delivery and the auto-reverse lead edge system.”
