The Inland Marine Underwriters Association Announces Addition Of “parallel Track” Program For

MONTVILLE, N.J. - March 27, 2013 - PRLog -- The IMUA’s 2013 Annual Meeting, slated for Buckhead Atlanta’s Intercontinental Hotel May 19-22, 2013, will be once again featuring a “Parallel Track” to its traditional educational programming.  This professional development addition is specifically focused on newer, less experienced inland marine underwriting and claims personnel.  Continuing education credits will be offered to assist producers and other interested parties in meeting their state insurance licensing requirements.  

The “Parallel Track,” which was first introduced two years ago at the association’s Chicago Annual Meeting, will consist of a series of seminars and workshops patterned after the IMUA’s Intro to Inland Marine Course and will run parallel to the more in-depth educational sessions being presented.

In announcing of  the addition of the Parallel Track, IMUA President & CEO Kevin O’Brien, said, “This educational offering is geared to those new to, or less experienced in, commercial inland marine insurance.  After the very successful introduction to our educational agenda, we have received numerous requests from our membership to include it in this year’s agenda.  We encourage our members and friends in the producer community to take advantage of this exciting program.  It also represents an excellent opportunity for those who take advantage of this program to network with other professionals in our industry.”

The annual meeting agenda for those attending the Parallel Track will also include attendance at some of the general sessions such as the keynote address by Dan North, Chief Economist for Euler Hermes North America, who will be addressing attendees on what lies ahead for both the US and global economies and how it is impacted by monetary and fiscal policies.  “Parallel Track” participants will also have the opportunity to interact with more seasoned industry professionals and participate in Annual Meeting receptions, recreational activities and trade show.

Among the topics to be covered by the “Parallel Track” are an Introduction to The Nation-Wide Marine Definition; how inland marine is structured and operates at the company level; and line of business specifics dealing with transportation, builders risk and construction insurance.
