New Bushwick Wine Shop Pairs Up with Local ArtistsBy: Henry's Wine & Spirit “I’ve been living in Bushwick, the J,M,Z part, and frustrated by the lack of convenience for a good and fairly priced bottle of wine in the neighborhood,” The Bushwick wine shop was designed and built locally thanks to several friends, of which Secret Handshake, who work closely with Roberta’s, Narrows and Bossa Nova Civic Club. Now that the shop is up and running, there are continued opportunities to be creative in growing the business. Henry's is about to have its first art show, DRAWINGS from DMZL, which presents a selection of line and mixed-media drawings by Jade Fusco, from the body of work created for her first solo exhibition in Berlin in the summer of 2011, entitled "Just Fell Asleep." With each of these drawings, Fusco attempts to anchor and trace the elusive entities that surface in her mind as it slips from its waking state into sleeping consciousness. The resulting lines are a carnival of shadow pirates, parading boogiemen, and drifting thought tokens, their spidery skeletons momentarily composed and poised for our observation. Jade Fusco, aka DMZL ("Damsel") is a Brooklyn based artist and performer. Her creations, which materialize across a myriad of mediums in the 2nd and 3rd dimensions, are all inspired by the beings that stream from a fantasy dimension in her imagination she has entitled "DMZL." She envisions DMZL eventually developing beyond her own mind, evolving into a collaborative enterprise involving artists working in music, film and performance. The opening is taking place on Friday April 5th from 7 to 10pm at Henry’s Wine & Spirit, located at 69 Central Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11206. The store is open seven days a week, offers delivery and even has an online wine store. Photos: https://www.prlog.org/ https://www.prlog.org/ End
