The 2013 Women in Government Day Awards, commemorating long-time public servants of the City of Tucson and Pima County, were presented by the Pima County/Tucson Women's Commission. Ramon Valadez, Chairman of the Pima County Board of Supervisors, presented Dusenberry with her award. “We are all extremely proud of my mom,” says Bruce Dusenberry, son of Katie Dusenberry and President of Horizon Moving Systems. “She is truly an inspiration to women in leadership and a blessing to our entire community.” In 1976, Katie Dusenberry became the first woman elected to the Pima County Board of Supervisors, where she served for eight years in office. In addition, Dusenberry served on the boards of several organizations that promoted women, senior citizens, the arts, and the economic infrastructure of the community. Still to this day, Katie Dusenberry is a well-loved, involved figure in the Arizona community.
