Young Filmmakers Expand Digital Horizons with "Canada!"

Toronto, ON - The newly formed production company Farmer Vision Media announced its release of “Canada!” a web series focused on fictional and fantastical portraits of imaginary Canadians. The series is a play on traditional Canadian stereotypes, with a modern twist. In its premier episode, “Canada!” examines the case of a young women with whistling breasts and the furrier who assists with her affliction. Upcoming episodes will focus on subjects, such as the only case of demonic possession in Canadian history and Margaret Atwood’s biggest fan.

The series, which devotes itself to the iconic Canada of past, not only reveals a changing national sense of self, but also the changing media landscape for young directors. “It’s not enough to do one thing well, you’ve got to be everywhere at once.” says Cameron Maitland, creator of the series and one of the founding members of Farmer Vision Media. The production company is made up of former film students from Vancouver who’ve all moved to Toronto in hopes of finding greener pastures. The company produces and is developing feature films, documentaries, broadcast comedies, short films and web content. In the end, “Canada!” is a labour of love for both Maitland and Farmer Vision, who will continue to produce the series while pursing some of their more traditional media projects.
