Women Master Sand Sculptors ready to turn Fort Myers Beach into an art gallery. Sand Bash
In just a few days Women Master Sand Sculptors from as far away as Australia begin arriving in Southwest Florida to compete in the 3rd annual Sand Bash.
Fort Myers Beach – March 25, 2013 – In just a few days Women Master Sand Sculptors from as far away as Australia begin arriving in Southwest Florida to compete in the 3rd annual Sand Bash. This year Sand Bash is hosting America’s first All-Women’s Master Sand Sculpting Championship. The event will benefit the Susan G. Komen of Southwest Florida and other local charities.
The event will be 10 days long from April 5th to April 14th on beautiful Fort Myers Beach behind the Holiday Inn, 6890 Estero Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931.
This is a remarkable first-time opportunity to see some of the world’s top women sand sculptors compete for the Blanche E. Swope Gold Cup. The women sculptors will be competing in both solo and double divisions. The sculptors represent countries such as United States, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Latvia and Australia. An Amateur contest is scheduled for Saturday April 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Amateur contest is intended as a venue for beginning or advanced amateurs and is open to all levels except masters and professionals. For more details visit: http://www.sandbash.com/
A special evening is planned for Saturday April 13th. This is the only evening the event hours will be extended and all of the sand sculptures will be lit up with colored lights. A very rare opportunity to see the sculptures close up as the sun goes down and under different colored lights. An ice sculpting show is scheduled for 6:00pm the same evening featuring Canadian Master Sculptor Melineige Beauregard. You read that right, Ice sculpting on the beach!

The event will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets for the event are $5.00 per person, $18.00 for a family of 4 and kids under 5 are free.

LOCATION & TRANSPORTATION
The 3rd annual Sand Bash will be at the Holiday Inn located at 6890 Estero Boulevard on Fort Myers Beach. Attendees are encouraged to arrive from the south in order to avoid traffic congestion. Event directors have coordinated a revolving bus system to transport attendees from the Lover’s Key parking area to the site. Parking is also available in the Publix shopping center at Bonita Beach Road and U.S. 41 where the Lee County beach “Trollee” will pick up attendees.
