Chicago, IL—Jefferey Ogden Katz of The Patterson Law Firm, LLC has successfully defended NBA player Ben Gordon in an action brought against Mr. Gordon by his former agent, Mr. Larry Harmon.  

On March 21, 2013, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the prior dismissal of claims brought by Mr. Harmon and against Mr. Gordon including claims of breach of contract, tortious inference, abuse of process and malicious prosecution.  

In that action, Mr. Harmon sought greater than $1.2 million dollars in damages against Mr. Gordon.  Specifically, Mr. Harmon sought a percentage fee of Mr. Gordon’s NBA earnings for the duration of his playing career.  Additionally, Mr. Harmon sought damages for claimed reputational injuries including the loss of other NBA clients as a result of Mr. Harmon’s failed relationship with Mr. Gordon.  

Previously, in January of 2010, Mr. Katz obtained a judgment for Mr. Gordon and against Mr. Harmon in connection with a promissory note executed between Mr. Gordon and Mr. Harmon.  In that action, Mr. Katz obtained an award of $1.367 million dollars for Mr. Gordon.  

Gordon’s attorney Jefferey Ogden Katz is experienced on the legal side of professional sports and is a notable media source for outlets like ESPN and Sports Illustrated on issues of professional liability.
