March 22, 2013: The executive director of IACC (Indo Arab Chamber of Commerce), Asif Iqbal, today met Ousmane Tandia, the Ambassador of Mali to India. According to the sources, the prime focus of the meeting was on improving trade relations in the fields of natural resources and minerals especially gold mining projects in Bamako, the capital of Mali. They also discussed agricultural opportunities between India and Mali. Seydou Coulibaly - the second counselor of the embassy who has promised to take delegations to Mali, also attended the meeting.
The ambassador was noticeably upset on the time and energy that is wasted in taking care of half hearted business enquiries. A spokesperson of the embassy said, "His Excellency complained about businessmen who approached him with great promises, but only a few of those turned up with results. The commitments are never fulfilled by most. He said that a lot of time and energy is wasted in taking care of such enquiries. He is working at entertaining such enquiries with more prudence and vigilance in the times to come."
IACC is seen as a medium for businesses in India to invest in opportunities in Mali, especially in areas including agriculture and natural resources.
