March 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Can you imagine Google or Apple not existing anymore? Out of the Fortune 500 companies in the eighties, less than 30% have survived until today, observes Johannes Deltl in his new book The Art of Intelligence – Why companies need Intelligence to stay ahead in a changing world. Doing business without systematic use of Intelligence amounts to threatening a company's competitiveness or even it's existence in the long run, Deltl stresses in the book.

The Art of Intelligence is a practicable manual on the ins and outs of the Intelligence infrastructure. It is packed with hands-on, practical insights on how a functional and comprehensive Intelligence system is implemented. Drawing from a wealth of experience from over 40 companies, the book illustrates how these companies succeeded or failed in their pursuit of Intelligence. Filled with examples, checklists, and useful hints, it gives a clear and logical picture of the Intelligence Cycle for managers and academics alike.

Larry Kahaner, author of the bestselling "Competitive Intelligence” has this to say about The Art of Intelligence: “The Art of Intelligence hits all the marks.... This book works for those just starting out and those already practicing CI techniques. If your competitors read this book, you should be concerned.” Author of Adaptability and The Strategy Book Max McKeown notes: “we need what Johannes Deltl describes as intelligence – knowledge about what is happening and what has happened....how patterns of events, trends of human behaviour are affecting what we do. “

The Art of Intelligence, which is a revamped version of the successful German release by the author, tackles Intelligence not only from the industrial viewpoint, but from the functional viewpoint as well. It explains the 5 Rules on the Art of Intelligence, and exemplifies how theory can be implemented successfully, with an eye on possible pitfalls to watch out for. The book highlights the value and benefits of Intelligence, and outlines tactical instruments and strategic methods crucial for decision-making.

The original German edition of The Art of Intelligence published by Gabler/Springer was recognized by the Financial Times Germany and ranked 5th in Capital Germany's Management Bestseller List. It also landed on the Top Ten Titles of the month by Cash Magazine Switzerland. The Art of Intelligence will be available at Amazon on April 19.
