KENDAL, U.K. - March 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Local Social Care providers in Lancashire & Preston attended the 2nd Annual ‘Lancashire’s Got Talent’ Awards at the Gujarat Centre in Preston on Friday 1st March 2013 to showcase their services and the positive contributions that the citizens they support make to their communities. Lancashire County Council also presented a number of Awards to Providers, highlighting best practice across the county.

For the 2nd year running, the Living Ambitions team under the leadership of Robin Bush MD, won one of the most prestigious awards of the day, the ‘Personalisation Award’ in recognition of their work to develop and promote ‘Circles of Support’

“We are delighted to win another award for our work with many people who have learning and physical disabilities” said Robin Bush, MD of Living Ambitions “Our work developing ‘Circles of Support’ also helps our citizens by encouraging and helping them to make a positive contribution back to the communities in which they live”

‘Circles of Support’ is a concept used by Living Ambitions to develop a ‘person centered’ approach to the lives and welfare of their citizens. By providing paid facilitation as part of a person’s personal budget, the Living Ambitions team focus on people’s gifts, dreams and aspirations and how the person can contribute these to their community. The facilitator uses their skills to develop, guide and co-ordinate the circle in the thinking and planning process.

“One of our citizens, Derek” adds Robin Bush “had ambitions to raise money for charity, improve his woodworking skills, set up his own woodworking business, have his own business cards and include his partner in all this. We developed his ‘circle of Support’ with relatives and friends who could assist, but also utilised his social workers & nursing students to minimise conflict within his ‘circle’

Derek is now a registered fundraiser for the Epilepsy Society, has designed his own business cards, has his own wood workshop, is growing his business, and has been featured in the local newspaper and the council website.

“This award will take pride of place alongside the two awards we won at last year’s event” continued Robin “and are a tribute to both our Staff and Citizens alike”
