TORONTO - March 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Caledon, ON, February 15, 2013:

It`s no secret that Canadians across the nation love nothing better than a good,

sweaty game of hockey but afterwards, we hate dealing with the smell of the hockey equipment. Anyone who has ever left an

arena after a great game knows that even a short ride home seems to take hours when, after stowing the equipment bags in

the back of the car, you have to breathe in the offensive aroma that comes from dirty hockey equipment. What’s even worse is

suffering the smell during the hotel stays and return trips associated with away games. And if the aroma is scary, the health

implications associated are truly frightening. The germs, moulds, yeast and fungi living in dirty hockey gloves and equipment

are what cause that odour. In fact, hockey equipment is teeming in a veritable soup of germs that live deep in the fabric…a

bacteria cafeteria, cooking up a whole menu of potential rashes, illness and infections in those who wear it!

It is a common practice to simply air out our hockey equipment but according to Caledon resident Candace Bell, President of

5-4-5 Zero Odour and Dean Swift, the company’s Research Director, airing hockey equipment does nothing but dry out the

germs and if the germs are still there… so is the smell and risk of infection.

“The true secret to banishing the malodorous smell is making contact with the germs causing it. That is why a surface sprays

will never really work by themselves.” said Bell, going on to explain, “Germs love to burrow into the fabric of the hockey

gear…a surface spray simply can't reach them.”

Other products make claims of removing odours by surrounding them on a cellular level or absorbing the odours – but only

the Hockey Hygiene Kit makes contact with the underlying bacteria that causes the odour.

Using the 5-4-5 Hockey Hygiene Kit takes only 5 minutes and gets you 4-5 weeks of odour free hockey gear. The process,

using a simple spray and wash system, is developed for home use. Once every 4-5 weeks you pre-treat the hockey gloves

with Hygiene Odour Wash (H.O.W.) Laundry Additive, and then wash the gloves along with the rest of the equipment

(excluding the skates and helmet). Air dry everything in front of a house fan and you are ready to play in 4 hours. The H.O.W.

treatment infuses the fabric with an antibacterial odour shield that inhibits the re-growth of the germs for 4 to 5 weeks and the

whole process takes only 5 minutes every 5 weeks. 5-4-5…it really is that simple. After each game take 5 minutes and spray

down the equipment. This small investment in time and application will banish the smell and reduce the risk of infection.

Each Hockey Hygiene Kit contains the Pretreat & Laundry Additive, a bottle of Maintenance Spray and - to prevent infection

spread by germs on mouth guards - a bottle of mouth guard spray which can also kill germs on your toothbrush & orthotic

appliance & freshen your breath. The entire kit containing all 3 products sells for $49.95.

5-4-5 Zero Odour products are laboratory tested to be safe, effective, eco-friendly and fully biodegradable. They will be

available for purchase online on March 1, 2013. To learn more about these products, visit the website at
