GROWit Makes the World’s First 3D Printed Snowboard

LAKE FOREST, Calif. - March 21, 2013 - PRLog -- LAKE FOREST, CA: GROWit partnered with local company Signal Snowboards to achieve the unexplored: the world’s first 3D printed snowboard. Signal Snowboards tested the limits of traditional snowboard crafting to take 3D printing to a whole new level in their boundary-pushing YouTube series Every Third Thursday (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIRyxzMWvkA&feature=share&list=PLMCoNEydeWs0olmXehu5jqVYXxQiNzU_t).

The 3D printed board was constructed on GROWit’s custom-built plastic laser sintering machine in carbonGRO 640. “Laser sintering technology opens doors to a whole new world of possibilities in the additive manufacturing realm. The potential for this technology, especially given the material options, is incredible. “More industries are testing the limits of laser sintered parts for functioning applications that go beyond prototyping and development”, says GROWit Founder/CEO David Gurrola. “carbonGRO 640 seemed the best fit for this project. We were really pleased how well the snowboard performed.” carbonGRO 640 is one of the best materials available today for lightweight, stable materials that can withstand extreme temperatures.
