Free Business Start-up Advice for Nottinghamshire's Budding Business Brains

NOTTINGHAM, U.K. - March 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Over 300 local entrepreneurs could benefit from a range of free business advice and support as part of programme launched by Nottinghamshire County Council.

Supporting local entrepreneurs is a key priority of the forthcoming Nottinghamshire Growth Plan, forming part of its wider ambition to create more local jobs and the Council is delighted to confirm it has established a partnership with the local Enterprise Agency, NBV Enterprise Solutions Ltd.

Nottinghamshire has a lower than average number of small businesses and historically low levels of self employment compared to the national figures but the potential for growth is significant. The business start-up programme reflects the importance of supporting local entrepreneurs to expand and diversify Nottinghamshire’s economy.

The free business start-up support on offer includes:

• one-to-one personalised consultations
• business plan development and support
• business master classes
• advice and access to grant funding and start-up loans where available

The County Council has invested £40,000 into the initial stage of the programme and expanding the scheme further into 2013, committing a further £45,000 to the programme, subject to feedback from entrepreneurs taking part.

Councillor Keith Girling, Nottinghamshire County Council's Business Engagement Champion and Chairman of the Economic Development Committee said:

“Entrepreneurs offer the future life blood of our local economy. But, despite having great ideas, many local entrepreneurs I’ve spoken to lack the confidence and support to take that first, and very important step, to set up in business.

“Start-ups require detailed and direct advice and I am delighted that we have teamed up with NBV; an organisation with a great track record here in the County.  Our business start-up programme aims to give people the help to get over the initial hurdles they are facing. The programme will work with businesses every step of the way to make sure they continue to trade beyond those crucial early months, going on to create more wealth, more jobs and more opportunities for local people.”
