CHICAGO - March 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Did you know:

•Conservative estimates are that twenty percent of all Iraqi and Afghan war veterans have some form of PTSD.
•Suicide among Iraqi and Afghan war vets occurs every seven minutes.
•Four million animals are killed in a shelter annually.
•While no formal research has been completed to date, there is a great deal of anecdotal evidence that shows that dogs can be rehabilitated and trained to help heal PTSD victims both physically and emotionally.

Here's how our Program is working to change things around:
•Dogs are paired with vets based on temperament, lifestyle and needs.
•Veterans participate in a four session intensive training regimen, learning best practices and handling techniques.
•Each veteran is assigned a coach to address specific needs and provide ongoing guidance.
•Veterans receive a starter kit, including food, a crate and a general guide.
•When the program is complete, each Dog will receive it's Canine Good Citizen Certification and go on to taking their Therapy Dog Test.
