UK Drivers Prepare for a White Easter

March 20, 2013 - PRLog -- After what feels like a never-ending winter, and some very challenging driving conditions in many parts of the UK, it appears that many drivers are looking to 4x4 cars to keep them moving on the roads.

Comparing the first two weeks of March in 2012 against the same period in 2013, Exchange and Mart (http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk) saw search volumes for 4x4 vehicles increase by an incredible 544%. This is a real reflection of the current weather, with the prolonged winter wreaking havoc across many parts of the country.

Debra Healy, Digital Director for Exchange and Mart, explains: “As a nation we’re obsessed with the weather, and this goes beyond just talking about it. What we’ve seen is that British drivers don’t want their lives to be disrupted by the appalling driving conditions many of them are experiencing due to the weather.  They are proactively looking at 4x4 vehicles to enable them to continue functioning in their everyday lives.”

“We may or may not be heading for a white Easter, but many drivers aren’t going to take the chance” continues Healy.

This is a far cry from March 2012. Looking back 12 months, the UK actually experienced the third warmest March ever recorded, and there were even some concerns about drought.

This contrast is further highlighted by a 55.4% fall in searches for convertibles and cabriolets during the same period in 2013 versus 2012.
