Well-Play Inc. and Minority AIDS Project Announce New Partnerships for Sex Traffic Awareness Event

Representatives from community and international agencies will participate as panelists to discuss the warning signs of domestic sex trafficking in urban communities across America.

March 18, 2013 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES, California--Today, Well-Play Inc. and the Minority AIDS Project announced the addition of the Mu Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., California Against Slavery, Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute as promotional partners for “Warning Signs: A Conversation with a Child Sex Traffic Survivor.”

On Saturday, April 13, 2013, members of the media, faith-based ministries, government, law enforcement, and public service organizations will assemble to explore the warning signs of sex trafficking within the urban community. The mission is to provide a platform for the education, advocacy and resource fulfillment for those who work closely with at-risk youth and adults.

The event will feature child sex traffic survivor, actress and filmmaker Brook Parker-Bello who will present her documentary film “SURVIVOR: Living Above the Noise.” Immediately following the screening, Bello will join a panel of experts to further discuss this very important issue.

Confirmed panelists include:

•   Denise Williams (Mental Health Provider, Minority AIDS Project)
•   Erika Pollard (Social Worker, Los Angeles County, DCFS)
•   Lesford Duncan (Los Angeles City Coordinator, California Against Slavery/Prop 35)
•   Terri Nathan (Event Host, Sexual Assault Prevention Counselor)
•   Rev. Rochelle Carr (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Mu Epsilon Omega Chapter

Action Factory LA will be the host venue for the event, located at 1720 E. Holly Ave, El Segundo, CA 90245. Doors open at 2pm, with the program beginning promptly at 3pm. Lunch provided by MDC Concierge will be available for purchase with a portion of proceeds donated to charity. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.
