CASTLEFORD, U.K. - March 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Europes’s largest Healthcare Innovation conference was held on 13 – 14 March 2013, at the ExCel London, with a limited number of organisations invited to exhibit. Over 10,000 delegates were in attendance at the two day conference where PCTI demonstrated their leadership in healthcare software innovation.

PCTI’s innovative solutions were showcased at the event, helping organisations to realise the benefits of electronic document management, and how it could help to achieve the new paperless NHS strategy and connect-all.

Document Management
Docman (http://www.pcti.co.uk/products/docman.asp) provides over 6,000 GP practices with document management, collaboration and workflow solutions and is responsible for streamlining processes and creating time and cost efficiencies for over 180,000 NHS employees. A typical practice benefits from an efficiency saving of over £10,000 per year.

Dave Mills, Patient Services Manager, Dr Anscombe & Partners “Over the past 4 years the practice has seen an increase in incoming paperwork of 75%. Thanks to the changes we made we have been able to process this without any extra investment in staff admin time.”

“On top of the efficiency savings we have also generated extra revenue due to cutting out numerous charging errors from incorrect routing of reports that are not covered under the NHS.”

Electronic Patient Correspondence
EDT Hub (http://www.pcti.co.uk/products/edt-hub.asp), the electronic document transfer platform is used by over 75 Trusts to send letters electronically to practices. The solution can save Trusts 50p - £1 per letter, with NHS Eastern & Coastal Kent and surrounding practices saving almost £200,000 annually in staff time and consumables, before taking into account the savings in postage costs.

Denise Mumford, IT Programme Manager (ECKPCT) “The Acute definitely benefits in the reduction in costs but it’s not just the money that will be of benefit, as there are a lot of important time savings. One example would be that documents are delivered with attached information so they are automatically workflowed, which is much better than the manual process, removing human error and ensuring GPs have access to an up-to-date record. This then provides a better service to patients as GP Practices have the information faster and have access to a complete patient record. Patients can also be comforted in the knowledge their information is being securely sent and will be recorded when the GP receives the letter.”

Paperless Referrals
A growing number of Trusts have implemented PCTI’s innovative solution for managing incoming referrals. The solution, which quickly captures incoming referrals from any source, provides Trusts with a platform to capture, file, workflow and track electronically every incoming referral.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have reported significant efficiency savings; including the ability to redesign the outpatient process, reduce the referral-to-booking time to 24 hours, gain valuable management information and improve the patient experience with Docman RMS (http://www.pcti.co.uk/products/docman-rms.asp).

Steve Groves, Systems Manager, “We have found that we are not cancelling or moving as many appointments and expect to see fewer complaints and an increase in patient satisfaction. By having information at our fingertips to inform patients instantly, our reputation to the customer will increase and we will remove many of the poor experiences that might then pass on their experience to friends and so on.”

Audited Collaboration
Docman Collaborator (http://www.pcti.co.uk/products/docman-collaborator.asp) provides practices and CCGs with an audited discussion platform in order to manage, share and discuss important matters. The collaboration tool uses Docman to fully integrate with the Clinical System and access documents and data so that group discussions can be formed around the information without the need for physical meetings.

Lisa Jones, Data Team Leader, Ash Trees Surgery, “We use Collaborator as a referral peer review tool and for managing locums. This enables our GPs to overview other GPs referrals and it’s easy to manage when GPs are on holiday. By using Collaborator to do this we have a full audit to show the CCG, the information can be used as a training exercise and it can be information for our monthly meeting.
