By: Organizing for Action NE King County Chapter Twenty-five volunteers, who all share similar frustration with our current congress’ inability to create real and lasting change at the national level, gathered to set a plan for citizen action in the areas of climate change, gun violence prevention, affordable health care, immigration and other elements of President Obama’s national agenda. At Monday’s meeting, caring members of the community established the goals of the newly formed King County chapter: to educate the public by raising policy awareness and understanding of national policies; organize to connect supporters thus mobilize for action; tell their stories through the press, social media and action to create their voice; and to train and empower grassroots leadership. The community identified core team members and established committees who will work for the president’s agenda and related progressive issues at our state and local levels. “We encourage any member of the community who is sick and tired of the stagnation and bickering of Congress to get involved in Organizing for Action this spring,” said LouAnn Hepp, Northeast King County OFA team leader. “The only thing that will advance the progressive agenda at the national level is organized community action.” OFA will continue to meet on an ongoing regular basis in different homes across northeast King County. Community members can get involved by attending events listed at barackobama.com/ End
