Follow on Google News | The Phuss at Boneshakers with Angel and the LoversLocal SA start-up rock 'n roll trio, Angel and the Lovers (ATL) perform their second show tonight at 10 pm at Boneshakers with recent SXSW performers, The Phuss.
By: Zunimar Music “Tonight, we play San Antonio for the first time. Hope to see you there at bone-shakers,” “I understand that The Phuss play fast, loud, dirty rock and roll and they’re a three-piece like us,” commented Kyle Smith, bassist for Angel and the Lovers. “It should be fun,” added ATL drummer Felipe Garcia. The Phuss hail from Fort Worth, TX, and are best described as Garage Rock- loud as hell with fierce guitar riffs, punchy, raw lead bass, intense vocals, and precision drumming drenched in grease. The band formed in 2008 with front-man and guitarist Josh Fleming and drummer Trey Alfaro, adding bassist Forrest Barton in 2010. The Phuss’s second full length album, produced by Vaden Todd Lewis (Singer and songwriter of legendary Texas band The Toadies) and Robby Baxter (Moby) is full of distorted, loud, but melodic and frightfully sharp, precise rock tunes. “ATL may not be fast, loud, and raw like the Phuss, but even as a new band, I bet we can hang with them on the dirty rock n roll part and add our own groove style,” says Angel Zuniga Martinez, lead singer, songwriter, and lefty guitarist for Angel and the Lovers. Angel’ ATL look to release a self-titled debut album in the fall of 2013 through Zunimar Music after introducing their sound to the local San Antonio music scene. ATL performs with The Phuss in San Antonio at Boneshakers Tap House and Pizzeria this Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10p.m. Cover only $5.00 at the door. Boneshakers located at 306 Austin St, San Antonio, TX 78215. For more event information, Visit http://www.facebook.com/ End
