By: TREKT Himalaya, LLC KATHMANDU, Nepal - March 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Nepali Ramesh BK's biannual “Medical Trek Nepal” saw an unprecedented 400 villagers on it’s first stop this week in Dhading, a rural district of Nepal.
Medical Trek Nepal helps villagers in rural parts of Nepal receive much needed medical care. This medical trek is unique because it is led by a female medical team and Dalit guides. The trek kicked off for the second time this week on March 11, 2013, with a message of equality for Dalits, women, and other minorities. Two more medical camps will operate this week during the trek, including a female medical team that includes one Nepali doctor, two Nepali nurses, two American doctors, and one American nurse, who will perform gynecological exams as part of the camp clinic. Another team will pass out 75 pairs of glasses to the elderly, donated by Thomas Stapleton of the United States. Media are strongly encouraged to visit the medical camps at Sunnawala Bazzar and Patlea. “I was lucky,” says Ramesh BK of Chitwan district. “I’ve worked as a tourist guide since I was a teenager. I met people who helped me along. But that is not the norm in Nepal. Most guys like me don’t get that kind of break.” Today, Ramesh BK operates the popular adventure company Hardcore Nepal (http://hardcorenepal.com) (hardcorenepal.com) ### About TREKT Himalaya TREKT Himalaya, LLC is a Nepali-American tour company specializing in adventure travel and educational tours to the Himalaya.
