AUSTIN, Texas - March 26, 2013 - PRLog -- The Human Dimensions of Organizations (HDO) announced today that Art Markman, Ph.D., has been named Director of Research at the IC² Institute. The Annabel Irion Worsham Centennial Professor of Psychology and Marketing at The University of Texas at Austin is also the Founding Director of the Human Dimensions of Organizations, an executive Master of Arts degree program at the institution.

In his new position, Dr. Markman oversees the research projects that will be funded by IC², an interdisciplinary research unit of The University of Texas at Austin founded in 1977 by Dr. George Kozmetsky.

IC² Institute has advanced the Theory and Practice of Entrepreneurial Wealth Creation which offers hypotheses that are tested in life-scale through several world-recognized programs, including the Austin Technology Incubator (http://ati.utexas.edu/), one of the world's most prominent business incubators; the Bureau of Business Research (http://www.ic2.utexas.edu/bbr/), a resource providing Texas leaders with research data to strengthen the state’s economy; and the Global Commercialization Group (http://www.ic2.utexas.edu/global/), a catalyst for emerging knowledge-based economies throughout the world.

Dr. Markman's role as Research Director allows him to support the most recent and significant research in entrepreneurship, business growth solutions, innovation and global commercialization. The research and knowledge gained in these areas will directly benefit the students in the HDO program. The information can support and direct the work done on students’ capstone projects, which represent the culmination of their degree.

“The HDO program is committed to bringing multidisciplinary insights to its students,” comments Markman. “By supporting new research, we have the opportunity to push the boundaries of knowledge and to allow that to have an immediate impact on the curriculum of the program. It also allows faculty from across the university including those affiliated with the HDO program to advance their research goals.”

The Human Dimensions of Organizations' mission is to transform business through a better understanding of people as individuals, organizations, and cultures.  HDO’s executive degree program will develop leaders who can maximize the human potential within organizations to address the challenges of the global marketplace.

"Our courses," continues Markman, "focus on the fundamental principles and skills needed to conceptualize and implement organizational change, making students more valuable within their organizations today and more successful in their careers over the long term."

The Master of Arts degree program launching in Fall of 2013 is currently accepting applications. Applicants can review program details at: http://hdo.utexas.edu/.
