Since 2009 there are 100 court cases pending or having been completed between the companies behind the Smartphone phenomenon.  The companies involved are suing each other over patent licensing and litigation in order to either stall the others development, prevent rival sales, in order to secure or increase their respective market shares while slowing down the competition.
