By: BizFed, Los Angeles County Business Federation “BizFed’s leaders are keenly aware of the frightening vulnerabilities of California’s Bay Delta region,” said Tracy Rafter, BizFed CEO. “BizFed strongly supports the California Natural Resources Agency’s release of Bay Delta Conservation Plan details, and urges continuing expedited efforts to get this project under review.” Additional preliminary draft details of the plan, the framework of which was announced last year, will be released over the next 45 days. The first public meeting on the preliminary draft details will be March 20 in Sacramento. A public review draft plan and formal comment period will be announced later this year. A study last month showed the plan’s water delivery facility and habitat restoration would add more than 12,000 jobs in the Delta area and 137,000 full-time jobs over the 50-year life of the plan. “BizFed’s more than 250,000 business owners have consistently ranked a reliable, quality water system as a top concern,” said Rafter. “Today’s public release of plan details is a major milestone in moving toward restoring and protecting the Delta ecosystem - and addressing the co-equal goal of ensuring all Californians have a reliable water supply for years to come.” The Los Angeles County Business Federation is a grassroots alliance of over 100 existing business organizations with more than 250,000 businesses whose goal is to effectively mobilize the collective voice of the Los Angeles County business community.
