Tempo Cycling & Pilates Studio’s New Location: More Community, World Class Cycling & Pilates
Tempo Cycling & Pilates Studio’s New Location on SE 12th Between Clay and Market Streets Offers More Community and World Class Cycling and Pilates Coaching and Classes.
“We coach national and world-class cyclists alongside folks looking to improve their health and fitness,” said Kirk Whiteman, owner of Tempo and a decorated cycling champion. “Our expanded space, located right on one of Portland’s busiest bike thoroughfares, allows commuters to complete their training on the way to or from work. Tempo’s new location is also very convenient for more fair-weathered cyclists or those simply looking for a great workout in a non-pretentious, community-based environment.
Tempo offers cycling and Pilates classes, coaching and private instruction for individuals. Whiteman also works with Team KWC, his world and national championship cycling team. Tempo’s new nonprofit arm, Whiteman Cycling Development Program, is geared toward exposing youth to the sport with aspirations of bringing a velodrome track to Portland. Currently, the only velodrome is at Alpenrose Dairy.
The director of the Pilates program is 14-year Pilates Master Instructor, Jenny Whiteman. Whiteman is certified by Power Pilates and studied under Pilates Master Kathy Grant in New York, and is also certified in pre- and post-natal Pilates and CycleOps Power. “Our Pilates program is a sustainable form of fitness for anyone, and compliments our cyclists,” says Jenny. “Athletes improve exponentially with Pilates training.”
Tempo is open to the public; clients consist of professional or aspiring professional cyclists, local community members, working professionals, retirees and at-home parents. Visit www.tempocycles.com for more information, including online scheduling.
