The New Ram Commercial Vehicle Division Introduces the 2014 Ram ProMaster

This vehicle should offer drivers, who need lots and lots of cargo space and payload capacity, exactly what they need. The ProMaster replaces the Dodge Sprinter, and offers at least as much capability and flexibility. It will come in thirteen different configurations, perfect for customization for business uses.

Chrysler, the parent Company of the Ram brand has adapted a vehicle from its European stable, the Fiat Ducato, for use here in the US. One of big changes Chrysler made between the Ram ProMaster and Fiat Ducato is that the US vehicle will get a 3.6L Pentastar V6 under the hood. This engine is good for 280 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. That engine will be set up with a six-speed automatic. A 3.0L inline diesel four-cylinder will also be available which will make a total of 174 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The Gas powered ProMaster will have a gross combined weight rating of 11,500 pounds and the diesel version will be rated at 12,500 pounds.

The ProMaster will be a front wheel drive vehicle with a unibody construction. It will come in two different roof heights, three wheel bases,  four body lengths, and cargo, chassis, and cut away body styles. The ProMaster will be able to pack an amazing 530 cubic feet of cargo and each of the doors into the cargo bay are large enough for a fork lift to easily load and unload pallets, making it simply one of the most functional commercial vehicles around.

There is no official word on when the ProMaster will show up at Ram dealerships or how much it will cost. It should be some time this year as a 2014 model and it should be competitively priced.
