UK Mail Donate to Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity

March 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Leading parcels and logistics company UK Mail have donated £1250 to Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. Parcel Pete, brand mascot for UK Mail’s consumer brand ipostparcels.com, made a ‘special delivery’ to Rainbow Trust on behalf of UK Mail’s Croydon depot and met Rainbow characters Zippy, George and Bungle.

The Croydon depot were awarded £625 from o2 after the site identified a fraudulent incident and managed to stall the gentleman carrying out the act until the police arrived in which he was arrested. UK Mail, who are a delivery partner for Telefonica  o2, are part of their ‘I Made a Difference’ reward scheme open to all of Telefonica o2’s partner organisations. The scheme is intended to reward individuals and or teams for making a difference with either internal or external customers, operational excellence,  continuous improvement , cost saving & value added activities.

After the funds were matched by UK Mail, the team at the Croydon depot donated the money to Rainbow Trust, a charity who provides individually tailored social palliative care to all family members of a child who has a life threatening or terminal illnesses.

Louise Bingham, Corporate Partnerships Manager for Rainbow Trust says: “We’re really grateful to UK Mail for not only donating their reward money to Rainbow Trust, but matching it as well. The money raised is the equivalent of paying for the transport costs of one of our Family Support Workers for around two months. This means 25 families are able to get to hospital for essential appointments, on time and without the stress of public transport. Rainbow Trust rely almost entirely on fundraising to carry out our services, so donations like this are essential for us to continue offering vital support to families when they need it most.”

Don Howie, Site Manager for the Croydon depot was also on hand to present the cheque and said, “To get the opportunity to give to others and support such a great cause was rewarding and something the team wanted to do. We hope the funds donated will help the charity continue their great work with children and their families’

Parcel Pete the brand mascot for UK Mail’s new customer facing next day collection and delivery service ipostparcels.com, presented the cheque to the charity at their office in Surrey with Zippy, George and Bungle on hand to receive the cheque.
