Bournemouth Collegiate School opened its doors for its annual Careers & Higher Education Event. The event
proved a huge success with much interest shown from students and parents in Years 10 – 13.

There were over 30 stands and students were able to seek and gain invaluable advice from many top universities such as Exeter, Bath, Southampton and Bournemouth.

There was also much local corporate support with representation from local solicitors Ellis Jones. Kate Brooks, Employment lawyer at Ellis Jones said, “I am very impressed with the students that I have met today. They have all asked lots of intelligent and focused questions. Some budding lawyers are out there in the BCS community.”

BAE Systems were represented by Ieuan Casey, a graduate software engineer who added, “Events like this are key for identifying new talent – the life blood of the company. As an engineering company we need new people with new ideas to keep on innovating.”

Carrie O’Neill, Associate Director of Marketing from Bournemouth company Tanner & Tilley Town Planning said, “I am pleased to be involved with this innovative event and we are enjoying a productive and mutually supportive relationship with the school. “

Alexandra Eaton, Chartered Marketer and Marketing Manager for Bournecoast said, “ I am delighted to be representing a local firm and to demonstrate to students that it is possible to progress up to senior management level in a local family business.”

Harry Kearton, Widening, Participation & Student recruitment Assistant from the University of Exeter added, “ There have been lots of engaged and interested students here today. It has been so busy. We rarely use up all our prospectuses at events like this but we have today!”

BCS Head of Sixth form, Maria Coulter said, “I am delighted. This has been a hugely successful event. Students have gained so much from today. We see an event like this as an integral part of their personal development. It has been really good to see our students networking, one of their 21st century skills that we are developing.”

BCS Year 12 student, Johannes Eschler added, “What a great event, it was so informative and brilliant to talk directly to so many different companies. I enjoyed talking to the Forces representatives in particular as this is a career route that I want to pursue.”
