LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. - March 12, 2013 - PRLog -- LCPC to Offer 5 Services on Easter

The sun will rise and set on La Canada Presbyterian Church’s celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. In addition to its customary Sunrise Service at Hahamongna Park, to be held at 6:30 a.m. on March 31, the church’s popular new 5:05 p.m. Sunday service will be presented as an Easter Sunset Service in the Worship Arts Center.

In between, LCPC will offer three identical Easter morning services in the Sanctuary, led by Rev. Dr. Gary Dennis, at 7:55, 9:25 and 11 a.m. Family-friendly overflow space will be available in the Fellowship Hall, with beverages and goodies provided.

After each service, there will be a special Visitor Reception with homemade baked goods and special gifts including Easter bags for the kids, free tickets to the musical producion “The Mask of Hiroshima,” free tickets to the Spring Zing BBQ, free trial Parent Education classes and more.

The Easter services will be the culmination of a series of Holy Week events at La Canada Presbyterian.

On March 24, Palm Sunday, Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem will be celebrated in word and song. The 7:55 service is traditional, while the 9:25 service is a blend of traditional and contemporary worship. The 11 a.m. and 5:05 p.m. services, both held in the Worship Arts Center, offer contemporary worship with the Praise Band.

A Maundy Thursday Communion Service will be held in the Sanctuary at 7 p.m. on March 28. This service commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus. It will include music by the LCPC Chancel Choir and soloists and a message by Dennis, and will conclude with the traditional walk to the cross and silent departure.

On Good Friday, March 29, LCPC’s Drama Ministry and Praise Band will present a drama of the crucifixion, “Were You There?” at 7:30 p.m.

The Easter Sunrise Service will be led by the church’s Youth Ministry Team in Hahamongna Park (formerly Oak Grove Park). A sound system is employed so that everyone can hear. Those attending are urged to dress casually and bring a blanket to sit on. Casual attire is also appropriate for the Easter Sunset Service, which will feature music by the Praise Band, communion, drama and a message.

All are welcome to these observances. La Canada Presbyterian Church is located at 626 Foothill Blvd. For further information, visit www.lacanadapc.org or call the church office at 818-790-6708.

About La Cañada Presbyterian Church

La Cañada Presbyterian Church (LCPC) began in 1948 with 158 members and a vision to reach the world for Jesus Christ. That early church was built quite literally on faith and charity from remainder brick and an operating budget that turned just about all of its revenue into active ministry. Through 65 years of outreach, LCPC grew to 2,000 active attendees doing ministry throughout Southern California and in 40 countries around the world. In 2010 the church completed a campus expansion which doubled its physical base for ministry and kept its historical sanctuary as the heart of the new grounds.
