WARRI, Nigeria - March 11, 2013 - PRLog -- The Day I Will Never Forget happened in February 2010, when author Kingsley C. Njoku returned from a week’s trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with his Asian wife Siti to celebrate Valentine’s Day. But their romantic idyll was soon turned into a disaster by airport security.

“We left Malaysia happy and in good spirits until we landed at Changi Budget Terminal Airport. Our flight from Malaysia back to Singapore was delayed and we arrived late in the day in Singapore. Siti walked right through and scanned her passport, while I had to wait because I don’t have a Singapore passport. As I waited in line, I was singled out and taken to a room by a female immigration officer where I was interviewed by her colleagues. My bag was opened and thoroughly searched without anyone telling me what was going on until I asked.

“My eyes were scanned, computers were checked and information was demanded from me for over three hours. I was submitted to embarrassment and humiliation. While my Asian wife was allowed easy entry, as a young African male, I feel I was discriminated against.” If you don’t believe that something “like” this can happen to you, be aware that racial profiling is not a myth.
