Indian Cancer Society organizes first ever Cyclothon–The Pink Ride, Ride to Beat Cancer in Gurgaon

DLF Foundation in collaboration with Indian Cancer Society, YouWeCan and Artemis Hospital organized its first ever Cyclothon – The Pink Ride, Ride to Beat Cancer today at Gurgaon for Cancer Awareness for children in the age group of 3 to 18 years.

March 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Gurgaon, March 9, 2013: DLF Foundation, the philanthropic arm of DLF Limited in collaboration with Indian Cancer Society, YouWeCan and Artemis Hospital organized its first ever Cyclothon – The Pink Ride, Ride to Beat Cancer today at Sector 29, Gurgaon for Cancer Awareness for children in the age group of 3 to 18 years.

The Cyclothon kickstarted at Leisure Valley, opposite Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon, Sector 29 at 8:00 am and ended at 10:00 am with approximately 1000 participants. The aim of this initiative was to highlight the issues surrounding wide spectrum diseases like cancer and to encourage Gurgaon to become an active community in promotion of cancer control along with fitness. The purpose of this Cyclothon was to promote physical activity among children together with the understanding that obesity & physical inactivity are prime causes for concern in regard to cancer.  

The cyclothon had three categories namely Tiny Tot Cycle March where kids of age group 3-5 years participated enthusiastically in the tricycle race; the Young Cyclers March saw kids of age group 6-12 years participating in a 2 km cycle drive and the Senior Cyclers category witnessed kids of age group 13-18 years participating in a 4 km cycle drive.

Flagging off the cyclothon, Mr. Rohit Malik, Director, DLF Estate Developers Limited commented, “I feel proud to be associated with an event of this nature. It is our corporate social and personal responsibility to come forth and aid the cancer patients with our moral and monetary support. Cancer is a disease which is curable only if it is detected on time. I appeal to the fellow corporates and the Gurgaon residents to show their concern and solidarity to fight against this disease and spread awareness at the same time.”
