Aveda Institute Corpus Christi Students Embrace Education on the Apple iPad

March 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Aveda Institute Corpus Christi (AICC) today announced that it’s providing each new student with an Apple iPad fully loaded with Aveda Institute course materials.

Aveda Institute Corpus Christi is the first of its kind in Texas to transition all course materials from textbooks and DVDs to the iPad. AICC kicked off its iPad curriculum with the first class of 2013 in January. Each new class of students will get to use and keep their iPads, even after graduation.

AICC was the first Aveda Institute in the country in 2010 to install its own power-generating wind turbine and exercise machines. With the introduction of the Aveda iPad curriculum, AICC continues to innovate and challenge its students to work smarter and think bigger.

Chase Thalman, Director of Operations, explains, ‘making education as live, cutting edge and relevant as possible is what it’s about for AICC. Our students can carry their work wherever they go; take notes right in the text; create videos; watch instructional videos; research additional sources online and essentially enrich their own library of coursework. Thalman continues, ‘Aveda students are also able to create their digital portfolios and collaborate with instructors, peers and future employers all with one powerful device.’

Each new student at AICC receives an Apple 16-gigabyte iPad 2 upon enrollment. New classes start every 8 weeks. The 2013 course dates are March 19 (full), May 14, July 9, September 3 and October 29. The Aveda Institute iPad curriculum will launch at the Aveda Institute San Antonio in June 2013, making it the 3rd institute in the country to go digital.

Since its first class in Jan 2011, AICC has graduated over 120 students. The majority of graduates have accepted highly lucrative positions in the salon & spa market in Corpus Christi, Houston, San Antonio and the Valley. Some graduates have opened their own business.

Last year, AICC students served over 18,000 guests with skin and hair salon treatments, an increase of over 44% from 2011.
