March 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Handling Specialty Manufacturing in Grimsby, Ontario, has custom engineered and manufactured a set of inverted electromechanical belt lifts for a major auto manufacturer in North America. The lifts have been mounted to a ceiling track and are being used to lift car bodies up and down (from ceiling down to floor level) where they are worked on by employees.

Factors taken into consideration with the engineering of this lift system included very frequent cycles/use with each lift being re quired to move 37,440 cycles per year based upon 12 cycles per hour, 10 hours per day, 312 days per year, with a fairly rapid rise and lower rate of 10 seconds.

These lifts are extremely quiet, clean and maintenance free, and feature a very compact collapsed height (low profile). For this particular customer, the lift capacity was 2,000 lbs., however, Handling Specialty can custom engineer different weight capacities to suit any customer’s needs. The actual belts are long lasting and durable and allow the lift to collapse to a very low height. To see the lifts in action, please visit

Additional details include:

· Lifting Capacity:          2,000 lbs fully distributed load

· Vertical Travel:          69”

· Rise Rate:          35 FPM approximate (Rise time10 seconds approximate)

· Lower Rate:          35 FPM approximate (Lower time10 seconds approximate)

· Collapsed Height          24” (from mounting plates to lower frame)

· Extended Height          93” (from mounting plates to lower frame)

· Lift Actuation          Electro-mechanical via dual belt system

These lifts are well suited for many manufacturing and assembly processes in the automotive, aerospace and defence industries. To find out how these lifts can work in your facility, please call Mike Roper, Engineered Product Specialist, at 905-945-9661.
