Smart Numbers Sailing Trip in Partnership with Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust

March 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Partnering with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust (http://www.ellenmacarthurcancertrust.org/) – the members of the Southampton Operations Centre of Smart Numbers Ltd donated £850 and hired their racing yacht, Moonspray.

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust takes children and young adults aged between 8 and 24 on sailing trips to help them to regain confidence following their recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illnesses. Often many of the children involved have spent a long term in hospital battling these illnesses, and hence have missed out on parts of their childhood, and may suffer from issues with their self-esteem. Sailing is the perfect catalyst to emphasise on teamwork and fun, offering a new and exciting experience in a small and confined environment.

In 2009, ‘Moonspray’ became a part of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust as their first boat, donated by the Poole Sail Training Trust after their charitables operations wrapped up. The team over at Smart Numbers had the pleasure of crewing the vessel after donating £850 to the Trust, and not only was this for a great cause but similarly to the goals of the charity for young children, acted as a great teambuilding exercise.
