Feb. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Barking Rain Press, a non-profit publisher of general and genre fiction in print and e-formats, announced the acquisition of the worldwide print and electronic publishing rights for the novel "Slip Sliding Away" from Burlington, Vermont author Sean Mulcahy. "Slip Sliding Away" will be Mulcahy’s first published book.

Recession. Unemployment. Student loan debt. Moving back home. This is the rude “welcome to adulthood” that college graduate Michael Reilly is striving to come to terms with—just like so many other Millennials. Now living with his father and stepmother, the only work he can find is a part-time retail job at the local mall. With few prospects, a failed romance and nothing but time on his hands, alcohol is fast becoming his only source of comfort. When his older brother is called back up to serve a third tour of duty in Iraq, Michael heads down to New Jersey to say goodbye—possibly for the last time—hoping to send his brother off with a wild weekend party. But his growing depression and frustration with his situation lead to dramatic and unexpected confrontations with his past—and his uncertain future.

“The lingering economic recession has led to dramatic increases in poverty, unemployment, and the numbers of Millennials living with their parents,” said Sheri Gormley, President & Executive Director of Barking Rain Press. “It has been reported that one in two new college graduates in the US are still either unemployed or underemployed. Told from a Millennial’s perspective, "Slip Sliding Away" presents the reader with a moving generational microcosm that brilliantly contrasts the angst, ennui and inertia of this generation.”

"Slip Sliding Away" has been assigned to Barking Rain Press senior staff editor Ti Locke. Publication for both the print and eBook formats of "Slip Sliding Away" is anticipated for the summer of 2013. Interested readers can read the first four chapters of "Slip Sliding Away" for free at the Barking Rain Press website barkingrainpress.org.
