1,200 students to find solutions for the MDGs achievement at Rome Model United Nations

1,200 students representing 107 states will debate the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals at Rome Model United Nations (RomeMUN) in a mock General Assembly of the United Nations.

Feb. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- 1,200 students representing 107 states will debate the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals  at the fourth edition of the Rome Model United Nations  (RomeMUN), organized in the capital of Italy  from the 7th to the 11th of March, 2013.

This year's edition is going to evolve around the eight international development targets aimed at  encouraging development by improving social and economic conditions in the world's poorest countries.

“2015, the year of hypothetical attainment of these goals, approaches so we would like to put the young generation at the heart of the matter by proposing an analysis of the current status of the struggle for the various objectives” Dr. Daniela Conte, the president of the organizer Giovani nel Mondo Association  said. “Our participants learn a lot: effective public speaking skills, how to negotiate with many people at the same time, intercultural communications and comprehension, insight of the UN mechanisms and procedures, team working and leaderships skills. In some cases RomeMUN totally changes their point of view, favoring a more global and complete idea of the world around them.”

The event has received the patronage of prestigious institutions, including FAO, IFAD, the World Food Programme, the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Rome City Hall, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Lazio Region and the Ministry of Youth.

Among the  guest speakers of the opening ceremony there will be Franco Frattini, president of the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI) and Gianni Alemanno (Mayor of Rome).

RomeMUN  is powered by the Giovani nel Mondo Association, which was born with the purpose of creating new arenas for youth and young ideas, and is organized thanks to the support of prestigious universities, national and international institutions, companies and youth-run associations.
