The Ford Focus Electric Earns a Top Safety Rating from the NHTSA
A five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gets the Focus Electric off to a great start.
As the the availability of the Focus Electric continues to increase, more and more drivers will be able to take care advantage of its low fuel costs and great features. In a difficult market for electric vehicles, Ford's recognition from the NHTSA will help to put the Focus Electric near the top of its class and a good choice for drivers looking for an electric vehicle.
Steve Kenner, the global director of the Ford Automotive Safety Office, commented on the award. “As more people shop for electrified vehicles, the Focus Electric now offers both a top vehicle safety rating from NHTSA and a faster-charging technology that allows it to fully recharge in three to four hours.”
Strong developments in front and side airbag technology on the Focus Electric are helping to keep occupants safer in the event of a crash. Specially sculpted front airbags help to reduced injuries caused by airbag deployment by lessening the force of impact on the chest and ribs in the case of frontal crashes.
Reactionary safety systems are only a part of what makes the Focus Electric a strong choice. Preventative systems help to keep the Focus Electric and its occupants out of danger. These features include:
• AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control
• The LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) for carseats
• Four-wheel anti-lock brakes
Focus Electric owners have the luxury of being able to charge their vehicles right from home. With a total charge range of about 80 miles, twice the daily average of most drivers, the Focus Electric gives plenty of the freedom. The standard navigation and diagnostics system makes planning a trip easy and helps to make sure drivers get to their destination with plenty of power to spare.
Lake Shore Ford is located in Burns Harbor at 244 Melton Road, southwest of the I-94 overpass. Lake Shore has not received the Focus Electric yet but is looking forward to its arrival.
