Bareknuckle Champion James Quinn-McDonagh Raises Funds For The Cain Burns Appeal
Championship Bareknuckle Boxer and Bestselling Author James Quinn-McDonagh will raise funds in support of six-year-old Cain Burns, through an auction of Boxing memorabilia, at an event in Newcastle in April.
A surgical procedure called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, which aims to block nerve impulses causing the pain and stiffness, could relieve Cain’s symptoms and allow him to live a more normal childhood. However the operation is only available in St Louis, Missouri, and will cost in the region of £55,000.
James Quinn-McDonagh, Managing Director of Quinn Promotions, has decided to use his first live event, ‘Clash of the Tyne Titans’, as an opportunity to raise money for the Cain Burns Appeal. He has called on his friends in the boxing and MMA world to dig deep and donate memorabilia, to be auctioned on the night to raise funds for Cain’s operation.
Items already up for grabs on the night include gloves from Mike Tyson, Joe Calzaghe and ‘Raging Bull’ Jake LaMotta. Other items include a signed pair of shorts from Colin Freakshow Fletcher, an autographed Tino Asprilla print, an original 16” by 20” metallic canvas portrait of Muhammad Ali, and a range of Quinn Promotions’ own signed merchandise. Further items are yet to be added, and contributions for the auction are also welcome.
James Quinn-McDonagh said: “A lot of hard work has gone on behind-the-scenes for a long time, to make this upcoming event in Newcastle happen. Now that it’s drawing close, we also wanted to qnuqu give something back. The auction will be a chance for Boxing, BKB and MMA fans to lay their hands on some top-of-the-range merchandise and memorabilia, whilst also supporting a very worthy cause.”
‘Clash of the Tyne Titans’ will take place in Club LQ in Newcastle, on Sunday 7th April 2013. The event will feature a range of different combat sports including Kickboxing, MMA, Bareknuckle Boxing, White-collar Boxing and Competitive Wheelchair Boxing. Ticket prices start at £25 and are available from www.quinnpromotions.co.uk.
