Feb. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Malware with the capability of carrying out DDoS attack is spreading fast and quietly. Cyber criminals are constantly spreading malicious application and there is a high probability that they will use these malware to carry out mobile DDoS attack.

nProtect emergency response team has uncovered several malware that has the capability of carrying out destructive DDoS attack and is keeping a close eye out.

The masterminds behind these DDoS capable malware have never been identified and they are continuing to spread the malware tirelessly, greatly increasing security risks among mobile device users as well as businesses, financial institutes, and government.

nProtect emergency response team stated that “the cyber criminals are planning for a grand attack and is in the preparation phase by amassing enough “Zombie” smartphones”.

Mr. Moon, security team leader at nProtect, said “there has not been an official case of DDoS attack observed or reported yet, so it’s difficult to assess the gravity of this situation. However, the fact that cyber criminals are continuously spreading these DDoS capable malware is a sign that people must be prepared for what’s coming”.

“The most critical action mobile device users must take is to never download any suspicious application – it is best to download application with many good reviews” said Mr. Moon. Installing an anti-virus application is also important to detect any malicious application that may already be on the phone and to prevent any future infection.

For Android users, nProtect currently offers anti-virus that can be downloaded for free on marketplace. Since cyber criminals can offer hoax version of the application with malicious codes embedded into it, check before downloading any anti-virus application.
