Sahara India Pariwar Extends Scholarship Sports and Meritorious Student of Low Income Group

Feb. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Pune, February 26th, 2013: Sahara India Pariwar, a major business conglomerate of India, today provided scholarship to 391 meritorious students and 32 sports achievers of Pune district who belong to lower strata of the society. Out of these 391 students, the scholarship was extended to 191 students at Graduation level and 200 students at Post-Graduation level. The meritorious students at Graduation level will be provided Rs. 750 per month (Rs. 9,000/- annually) as scholarship while students at Post-Graduation level will be provided Rs. 1,500 per month (Rs. 18,000/- annually). Out of these 32 sport achievers, the scholarship was extended to 20 State level achievers (Rs.60,000 /- annually), 9 National level (Rs.1,20,000 /- annually) and 3 International level (Rs.2,40,000 /- annually) The Guest of Honour for the event was Dr. Arun Adsool, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Pune University and Mr. Balkrishna Akotkar, Ex Olympian .

Under the Scholarship Scheme for the Meritorious Students of Low Income Group for the academic year 2012-2013, Sahara India Pariwar had invited applications from the Students. From the total of 1300 application received, 191 students at graduation level and 200 students at post-graduate level have been selected whose monthly income is below Rs.3 lac.  

The scholarship scheme for meritorious students is a part of one of the 4 welfare schemes that were announced by ‘Saharasri’ Subrata Roy Sahara – Managing Worker & Chairman, Sahara India Pariwar. The other schemes include

Individual accident cover to the 17.07 lakh voters of Pune Lok Sabha constituency wherein Rupees One lakh will be provided as financial assistance to the nominee from the family of the deceased whose death has been occurred in a road accident. Similarly Scholarship is also awarded to the promising sportspersons of Pune District who have performed at State, National and International level.

Sahara India Pariwar is also providing Scholarship to the sportsperson of Pune district who are playing at the state, national and International level on monthly basis

Besides, Sahara is also running 9 Mobile Healthcare Unit Vans and providing public health services to 134 villages of 6 Blocks in the rural area and 2 urban slums of Pune District. Each of these MHU vans has a. Team of qualified doctor, a pharmacist and a driver and is equipped with primary health equipments

When the devastating earthquake hit Latur district of Maharashtra, Sahara India Pariwar came forward to rehabilitate the earthquake stricken citizens of the region and also developed a cluster of earthquake houses in Killari Village in Latur, The houses were handed over to the villagers by Reverend Mother Teresa.  

Sahara is also providing monthly to the families of the Martyrs of the Mumbai Nov '08 terror attack, Dantewada Massacre and to the families of Kargil War Martyrs. Today, it provides, monthly financial assistance to 320 families of martyrs.
