Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz Names Cary Cox To Direct Public Information and Marketing

Cary Cox, an award-winning public relations and marketing professional, is the new Director of Public Information and Marketing for the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources.

Feb. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. -- Secretary Susan W. Kluttz has announced Cary Cox as Director of Public Information and Marketing for the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources, effective Feb. 25.

Cox is an award-winning public relations and marketing professional with more than 25 years of deep and broad-based experiences. She comes from her successful Cox Marketing Group in Charlotte, a full-service firm that offered clients strategic marketing, advertising, public relations, event planning and new media development.

"I am thrilled that Cary Cox has agreed to join our team,” Secretary Kluttz observes. “Her exceptional professional skills and experience will be a tremendous asset as we share information about the treasures of North Carolina to promote economic development and job creation."

As Director of Public Information and Marketing, Cox will be the top communicator from the department about Cultural Resources interests, programs and initiatives, and will lead the planning and implementation of marketing strategies to promote the creative economy in North Carolina. She will coordinate interagency and interdepartmental efforts to provide workshops and other forms of outreach to emphasize cultural resources programs and their positive impact on the state.

Cox worked with private and non-profit clients in her 16-year tenure with Cox Marketing Group, including Marriott City Center, the USO of North Carolina, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and many others. Her hallmark was personal client attention and creative marketing strategies that kept her clients front and center. She won an international public relations award from Morton's The Steakhouse and a national award for the creation of a retail website.

In 1987 Cox came to North Carolina to run Congressman Alex McMillan's successful re-election campaign, building on her success in the field for the Republican National Committee as a local programs director in the mid-Atlantic states. She has worked at the Reagan-Bush National Campaign headquarters, the Presidential Inaugural Committee and the Department of Justice.

Cox holds a B.A. degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
