"India Company: Chu Lai" - Stunning Memoir Tells the Story of America’s First Big Vietnam Battle

"India Company: Chu Lai" tells the inside story of a remarkable group of young men and how they were able to defeat their modern day Goliath.

Feb. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- On August 18, 1965, two battalions of U.S. Marines engaged the Viet Cong in the first major battle of the Vietnam War between American forces and communist troops. The brutal five-day fight, which became known as Starlite, was a major victory for the Marines.

The inexperienced American soldiers who won the day were mainly teenagers, fighting against Viet Cong forces who had been engaged in South Vietnam for 20 years. In 1963, author Robert Seiber joined the Marines at the age of 17. He was later sent to Vietnam and was one of those victorious young men took part in Starlite.

Three months before Starlite was fought, the Marines arrived at Chu Lai, South Vietnam. They fought in several skirmishes, but had to contend with harsh climate and rough terrain, which took their toll on the men. India Company: Chu Lai tells the inside story of this remarkable group of young men and how they were able to defeat their modern day Goliath.
