Introducing Art Meets Design at Mission Federal ArtWalk
New Interactive Exhibition Brings Expert Interior Designers to the Fine Art Festival Experience
An annual event founded by artists, Mission Federal ArtWalk is an inclusive venue for art collectors and tourists to meet and interact with artists, and provides visitors with opportunities to discover the inspiration behind each artist’s work. The goal of this new Art Meets Design concept further enhances the experience, and helping people feel comfortable as they purchase art and support local artists. The designated corner at India St. at Beech will be transformed into a virtual home thanks to sponsorship and support from DCR Construction, Metro Décor, Lamps Plus, West Elm and Dove Framing. These firms partnered with Room by Room to create this interactive “event within an event.”
“In our virtual home, we will be interchanging lamps, accent pillows and accessories to show art buyers how a new piece of artwork can create that special look they’re after,” said Malcolm, founder of Room by Room. “We’
Stephanie Malcolm’s team is known as a trusted interior design resource for individuals, real estate firms and the art and design industry. In business since 2007, her team has transformed a range of properties throughout San Diego into stunning homes.
Attendees can view the exhibition with existing room vignettes — including a living room, dining room, bedroom and home office — with artwork by participating artists on display. Alternately, they can work with an artist to bring a selected piece for buying consideration to the Art Meets Design installation and receive a complimentary interior design consultation.
How Art Meets Design works:
Art buyers select pieces of artwork they would like to see in a room setting with their artist(s) of choice.
With artist approval, and accompanied by an artist, attendees may bring the piece to the Art Meets Design exhibition area to view the art in various room settings.
On-site interior designers will provide ideas, pull in framing concepts, shop available accessories like throw pillows and various textiles to demonstrate how the art can work well in a given room environment.
Art buyers can then make an informed decision about how their purchases will look in their home, taking away expert design tips for achieving the look they’re after.
“Art Meets Design will change the way people experience art buying at an outdoor festival,” said Sandi Cottrell, managing director of ArtWalk. The Room by Room interior design team has exceeded our expectations with this virtual home bringing an added benefit for participating artists as well as art buyers.”
