India Plays Central Role in Prometric’s Global Test Development Solutions
As a central hub in Prometric’s global Test Development Solutions (TDS) business, Prometric’s Gurgaon operation streamlines workflow from India to Ireland, the United States and Japan.
Prometric’s business model leverages a cycle of innovation and technology automation tools to continually reach for higher quality and cost savings. Prometric utilises proven methodologies to define what needs to be measured, and works with qualified subject matter experts to develop and review test content delivered to candidates in a fair, flexible and secure manner.
For example, since 2009, Prometric has worked in close collaboration with the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to develop a psychometrically sound and fair Common Admission Test (CAT). The test design, structure and item (question and answer) profiles of the CAT are first defined by the IIMs. Prometric then coordinates with IIM professors and external subject matter experts to author test items based on these guidelines. The test items are reviewed and edited thoroughly with IIM professors to ensure fairness, clarity, completeness and accuracy before they are placed into exam forms (versions of ooprc the test). At this stage, Prometric and the IIMs review and approve for content balance before final release to test publishing. Like other world-class management and Master’s-level entrance exams, the CAT utilises multiple exam forms. To ensure fairness and equivalency across the forms, Prometric employs an industry-standard psychometric process called “equating”
“Prometric works closely with its clients in India and abroad to develop and deliver fair and secure exams,” said Soumitra Roy, Managing Director, Prometric India. “Our methodologies provide the highest level of accuracy in testing, scoring and reporting in the industry, but we are never satisfied.”
Prometric continually invests in the expansion of its test development capabilities to provide better, faster and more cost effective solutions to its clients globally. Through its global, 20-hour test development operation, Prometric helps many of the world’s most recognised companies, governments and organisations develop tests that accurately measure the knowledge and skills of millions of test-takers around the world.
