The first 811 Race is scheduled to take place in West Palm Beach, FL March 10th, 2013. This race will be used as a national template for future 811 races on 8/11 Day on August 11th.
Feb. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- The 811 Run is an 8.11K race aimed at getting exposure and spreading the awareness of the federally-mandated, national “Call Before You Dig” number, created to help protect people from hitting underground utility pipelines and cables while digging.

The run will be held in beautiful Okeeheelee Park, just a few miles from the Palm Beach County Convention Center where the CGA 811 Excavation Safety Conference & Expo will be taking place, March 12 – 14.

Prizes will be given to those participants or spectators who wear 811 shirts during the race.  There will also be a children's run and a walk following the run, along with an awards ceremony for top race finishers.

All profits from the race will be given to the Construction Angels, a national organization created to provide financial assistance to the families of road construction workers who have lost their lives while on the jobsite.

Sponsors of the race include Verizon, Florida Public Utilities, Sunshine 811, MGH, Rhino Marking & Protection Systems, and Infrastructure Resources, all companies invested in damage prevention and safety.  To register, visit
