General Motors Debuts the All-New 2014 Chevrolet SS Sedan in Daytona
The 2014 SS is GM’s first rear-drive V8 sedan since the Pontiac G8 was discontinued in 2009.
Powered by a 6.2L LS3 V8 engine, the 2014 Chevy SS delivers 415 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. This Chevy model also comes equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission that, when coupled with the engine, takes the SS from 0-60 mph in five seconds. The new SS also offers standard four-piston Brembo front brakes, 19-inch alloy wheels, and MacPherson strut front and rear suspension. The platform it is built on has been used by the Camaro, the Caprice police car, and Holden’s VF Commodore.
The interior sports a number of luxurious and stylish technology features, including leather upholstery, a nine-speaker Bose sound system, a full color touchscreen, and a push-button start. There’s plenty of room as the 2014 Chevrolet SS has seating for up to five passengers.
In addition, consumers will be able to take advantage of all the high-tech safety features, including Lane Departure warning, Forward Collision Alert, and the new Automatic Parking Assist system which uses ultrasonic sensors to help determine the size of parking spaces.
Mark Reuss, GM North America president, said in a statement “the Chevrolet brand was largely built on the strength of rear-drive performance sedans, yet it’s been 17 years since we’ve offered one. The all-new Chevrolet SS fills that void and fills it better than any other vehicle in the brand’s rich history.”
Homewood-area drivers can expect to see the new 2014 Chevrolet SS at Chevy of Homewood later in 2013. For more information, customers are encouraged to stop by the dealership, located at 18033 S Halsted St in Homewood, or contact the sales department (http://www.homewoodchevy.com/
