Feb. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- On February 25, Lynne Schoepfer, Executive Director, Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center Inc. (http://www.saveapetli.net/), will speak with members of the Green Teens at their monthly meeting held at the Port Jefferson Free Library’s Teen Center, located at 150 East Main Street in Port Jefferson. The lecture will run from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Ms. Schoepfer will discuss what members can do to help the shelter (http://www.saveapetli.net/), the importance of spaying (http://www.saveapetli.net/low-cost-dog-cat-spay-neuter.php), neutering (http://www.saveapetli.net/low-cost-dog-cat-spay-neuter.php) andmicrochipping (http://www.saveapetli.net/programs-microchip-pet-tnr.php) your pet and why dogs should be adopted (http://www.saveapetli.net/dogs-adoption-cats-pets-long-island/dogs.php#.UP6fFx3okl8) and not bought from retail pet stores.

The Green Teens are a group of sixth to 12th graders who perform service projects and community outreach efforts to help protect the environment. Some of their programs include recycling, creating “green” crafts and beach clean-ups. As part of one of its service projects, the group recently made gluten-free doggie treats and donated (http://www.saveapetli.net/donate-long-island-animal-shelt...) them to Save-A-Pet.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to speak to the Green Teens members,” Ms. Schoepfer said. “They will have the opportunity to learn about our wonderful organization, how they can volunteer (http://www.saveapetli.net/volunteer-animal-shelter-li.php) at the shelter and the benefits ofadopting a pet (http://www.saveapetli.net/donate-long-island-animal-shelter.php) over purchasing one at a retail pet shop. They will also be able to learn about keeping your pet safe and out of danger.”
