Fewer Homes for Sale in Amarillo, TX while Listing Prices Fall
The number of homes for sale in Amarillo, TX fell in January, while the average listing price declined by 0.55%.
The average price of homes for sale was $186,389, which was down from $187,421 in December. However, the median price of homes for sale - the number at which half of the homes listed for sale were for more and half were for less - increased 1.21% to $147,923.
The high school in Amarillo, TX with the highest average home listing prices was Bushland High School.
"Amarillo is still waiting for the turn around in prices that the rest of the country is seeing," said David Velasquez, president of Amarillo-based Key Realty which created the report. "It is still a great time to buy. Home prices are down and interest rates are lower than we will probably ever see again in our lifetime. There are more homes to pick from and sellers are willing to do more to get their home sold."
The prices varied according to the size of the homes
- 2 bedroom - $107,885 - an increase of 0.12% from December
- 3 bedroom - $158,203 - an increase of 0.18% from December
- 4 bedroom - $264,806 - a decrease of 2.63% from December
- 5 bedroom - $399,069 - an increase of 3.28% from December
The average home for sale has 3 bedrooms and 2.01 bathrooms.
The high schools in Amarillo, TX with the highest average home price were:
-Bushland High School - $302,718
-Highland Park High School - $281,351
-Canyon High School - $250,626
-Randall High School - $238,630
-Amarillo High School - $213,367
