Snell & Wilmer Attorney Dan Wittenberg Among Delegation for Medical Device Industry at Capitol Hill

Feb. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Coordinated by AdvaMed’s State Medical Technology Alliance, the fly-in is an annual event for state associations that represent the interests of the medical device industry.  

Wittenberg is co-chair of the Governmental Affairs and Public Policy Committee for the Colorado BioScience Association. He, along with representatives from 18 other states, united in an effort to educate legislators on the dangers of the 2.3 percent excise medical device tax, and to support the Paulsen-Kind Bill, which seeks to repeal the device tax. On behalf of the Colorado BioScience Association, Wittenberg accompanied the organization’s president and CEO, April Giles. Together, they advocated for policies supportive of Colorado’s medical device industry through meetings with representatives of Senator Udall’s and Bennett’s offices as well as with Congresswoman DeGette’s, Congressman Gardner’s, Congressman Polis’ and Congressman Perlmutter’s offices.

In his legal practice, Wittenberg represents medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and consumer product manufacturers in product liability litigation as well as counsels these companies on risk avoidance/management strategies, recalls and regulatory matters, including those involving the Food and Drug Administration and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. He has attained certification as a Global Regulatory Affairs Compliance Professional and has served as national counsel for major medical device manufacturing concerns and as regional counsel in mass tort as well as pattern litigation cases.  He also works with entities in technology transfer and intellectual property matters including university technology commercialization, litigation, licensing and agreement negotiations. Wittenberg also represents companies in commercial litigation. Representative clients also include renewable/clean energy companies, such as a leading manufacturer of solar cells, panels, inverters and imaging detectors, as well as one of North America’s largest wind energy companies.
